I’m Leaving Again

This time it’s to yet another place I’ve never visited.

Yup, I’m leaving on a jet plane next week for fabulous Las Vegas.  Why?  Well, I hear they have good food there.

Or was it the awesome gambling?

Nope, none of that.  I’m actually going for a different reason:

Yes my friends, I finally get a chance to go to Interbike.  I got an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, so I didn’t.  I guess I can be like my hero Dicky and be an Industry Insider Douchebag.  Who’s taking me?  One of my supporters over there on the right.  I’ll tell you all about it when I get back.  It’s sort of a surprise I guess.

Anyway, I’ll get to see all the cool new shit, talk to some cool new people, and hang out with lots of people I already know.  I should be fun, and it will definitely give me lots to talk about when I get back.  So yeah, that means I won’t be here next week.

One of the highlights out there will be the 3rd annual Ride for Reading book delivery.  Thursday morning, we’ll leave from the Las Vegas PD and head over to a local elementary school to deliver books by bike.  I’ve never done this before, but I’m told it’s a lot of fun.  I’m looking forward to it.

I’ll also be there for the Outdoor Demo.  The plan is to arrive at the airport in the morning, pickup my rental car, and high tail it out to Boulder City to test out some rad bikes.  Hopefully I’ll be okay to ride by then.  If not, I’ll go sightseeing at the nearby Hoover Dam.

Tuesday night, it’s the big Industry (Insider Douchebag) Party.  George Thorogood will be the musical guest of the evening.

But, there is another.  My friends from CroMoly are the opening act, and I can’t wait.  With the difference in time zones though, I imagine that I’ll be sound asleep before the show is over.

Hopefully I can stay up that late.

Why all the references to the Vegas Vacation movie, you might ask?  Well, that’s pretty much all I know about Las Vegas.  I’ve never had the desire to go to Sin City, but Interbike kinda changed that.  All those bright lights, fancy hotels, and casinos don’t really appeal to me, but shiny new bike shit does.  Plus, I’ll get to see my long lost brother out there in the desert.  I haven’t seen him since we were really little, so it should be pretty cool.

Shit, I’m exhausted just talking about all the shit I’m gonna do.  Luckily I have a few more days this week to rest up before I leave.

Expect a lot when I get back.  Don’t expect too much tomorrow though.

Wait, you’re here every day, which means that your expectations are pretty low already.
