Can't Stop Won't Stop

Yeah, we were back in the woods yesterday for the short track race.  And I have to say, my friends are pretty damn awesome.  After the shit that went down last week, word got around, and our party grew.

Not sure why Eastwood is sleeping.  Must have been a good party.

It was cold. I mean really cold.  Mid 20s I think.  The beer was flowing, the pinata was back, and we cheered/heckled our racing pals despite being half frozen (us and them.)  It was a blast.

But our friend from last Sunday never came back.

I guess he's retired from mountain bike racing.  I dunno.  That's too bad.  We had some shit ready for his ass.  Whatever.  We still had an awesome time, and once again were thanked by the racing folks out there that knew how to have a good time, and expected us to provide the entertainment.

Yeah, I race too.  Just not right now.  I'm not too fat (or obese), scared to get my feelz hurt, or any piss poor excuse like that.   I'm just enjoying cheering on other people while I get ready for my season (that starts very soon.)

And guess what?  People actually know who I am.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but I'll take it.

See y'all tomorrow.

Oh yeah, Who Gives A Shit.

Fun Friday

The weekend is finally here.  It’s a holiday for a lot of people today, so that could explain the shitty traffic on the way home from work yesterday and the light traffic this morning on the way in.  I guess I'm very thankful for it.  You know, because there are worse things going on.

Tomorrow, myself a couple hundred of my closest friends are gonna play in the woods.  It will be fun in a weird way.

I know everyone will be happy to see me tomorrow.  In fact, I’m sure that’s why most of them signed up for the 6 Hours of Warrior Creek in the first place.

Yeah, sure.

Anyway, I’m in a hurry to get today over with so I can get on with my weekend.  Tomorrow is gonna be rad.  On Monday, you’ll most likely see the first of several posts about my “race.”

See y’all then.

I Guess I’m Done

Getting away for a last minute trip to Saint Augustine was a great idea.  It was a lot of driving though, but we crammed a lot of stuff into the short time we were there.  Although I have no desire to move back there, I do miss Florida sometimes.  Mostly it’s the history I grew up learning, and the outdoors.  It's a different kind of pretty down there.

When I moved to North Carolina eight years ago, I had no intention of visiting Florida so much.  The last few years I’ve been there quite a bit though, and in the future it will be more of the same just to get my fix.  Although it’s not home anymore, I like the feeling I get when I go back there.  I think I even miss the dumb stuff down there sometimes.

But, NC is my home now and I’m not changing that.  The riding up here is awesome, plus we have seasons (including this shitty one right now.)  It was definitely the right move, and now that I’m back home I can start getting back to normal.

What is normal, anyway?

I’m not sure but I’ve missed it.

And I’m pretty sure Carl missed me.

C’mon Friday…

Long Days

I seem to need a lot of this shit lately.

With the time change over the weekend, I’m still looking for that “extra hour” we’re supposed to get.  Sure, I had a lot of shit to do over the weekend, but I’ve had plenty of time to recover.

I guess.  It is Wednesday, you know.

I don’t do well with free time.  Either I waste it, or I do too much.  There’s no in between.  Many moons ago when I was in the Army, all the structure they had kept things right for me mentally.  I still find myself trying to capture that again years later, and sometimes it works.  While I could probably use a little down time (there is some coming soon), having a lot to do keeps me from wasting time.

Where am I going with this?  Who knows.  I have quite a bit to talk about (including a “study” I’ve done over the last few months), but sitting here talking about how busy I am helps with the chaos I guess.  Unlike Eastwood (who’s smart enough to skip blogging when there’s nothing to talk about), I’m here almost every day babbling about nothing, and sometimes something.

More tomorrow I guess.  You know, when I’m rested.

Fun Friday (Summer Edition)

It’s that time again.  It’s Friday again, which means I take the easy way out and post what I think are funny pictures that may or may not be related to a topic that I’ve discussed in the past.

I like taking the easy way out, hence why the Fun Friday thing continues on.

Anyway, we’re something like halfway through summer.  Time for fun in the sun, which for a lot of people means trips to the beach.  If you didn’t get your beach body ready by now, it’s too late.  Today’s only Fun Friday photo is about a friend of mine that worked hard all “offseason” to get himself ready for the beach.

Dicky is so proud of his hard work that he just wants to show off (almost) everything.

Good luck getting that image out of your head.

See y’all Monday.

Fun Friday

It's that time again.

Yeah, it’s time for me to sit around and drink beer.  It's also time for another “Fun Friday”, which means that you get to look at funny shit my kid sent to me (that he found on the Internets.)

Yup.

Sure, that's good enough for today.

See y'all Monday with a “race” report from the Winter Short Track.

Things Are Getting Brighter

And I suddenly feel better.

That's all I have to say about that right now.

Thanks for the concern yesterday.

“Acting” Like A Pro

I’ve stumbled upon two videos in which I make an appearance. Sure, I make my own videos, but these clips were filmed by people other than me. Who the hell would do such a thing? Well, other than my own selfish self (what?), my racing pal Todd Tucker took some video from the Stump Jump race.

I’m in it, but not for long (even though there’s quite a bit of footage.) You can see me sprinting off the start, and riding along up until I got passed at about the 2:40 mark. You can even see Lunchbox on the side of the trail taking photos at about the 2:50 mark.

Yeah, I still think that my choice of (non) gears was silly. Oh yeah, I’m a “real” celebrity now. Check out this video from Bicycle Sport that was posted on BikeRumor for their Bike Shop Video Challenge. Looks like most of it was filmed during the Foundry Cycles launch party back in March. I’m there drooling over a bike, and there’s another scene where I’m talking to Dicky about how we’ll never drink tons of beer again.

I'll be signing autographs at a location near you soon.

That’s it for today. I was gonna skip posting all together, so this is better than nothing.

 Or not.
