Back To Business

A while back I did a product review for Anti Monkey Butt Powder. I received a few other products to review at the same time, but I’m just now getting around to the rest of it (we all know I can’t do too many things at once around here.) Anyway, this box full of goodies showed up on my doorstep a while back, and I was eager to try out everything:

I opened it up and here’s what I found:

I know you recognize the Anti Monkey Butt Powder from the review I did, but the rest of the stuff was still there for my reviewing pleasure. It only makes since that I start with what I pulled out of the box first:

Yup, the folks that sent me this care package must have realized how stinky and sweaty I get when I ride my bike around trying to stay out of last place in the events I do. There were two different kinds of Anti-Perspirant for my review, and I was eager to try them. In reality, my current brand of deodorant/anti-perspirant works fine, but I’m willing to try anything else just for the sake of blogging about it. So, what’s special about this Certain Dri stuff anyway?

Well, for starters, the “solid” anti-perspirant is meant to be put on at night, right after your bedtime shower and before you go to bed. I found that a little odd, but I went along with it. I thought that I would wake up the next morning needing to reapply it just to keep from stinking up my workplace, but I resisted the urge to do so. My distrust turned out to be unwarranted, because the stuff lasted all day. Now, I don’t have a problem with sweating profusely or anything from just sitting around at work, but this stuff still kept me from perspiring at all. When I put it on, I felt a warm sensation in my pits, kind of like someone plugged them up. That’s a good thing I guess, since sweating can lead to stinking, and no one wants that.

So, what’s with the second one, the Certain Dri A.M.? Well, just like the package says, it’s an underarm “refresher.” You can put it on in the morning when you wake up to keep you smelling “shower fresh” all day long. Like I said, I’ve been fine with my usual deodorant, but this Certain Dri stuff is pretty good too.

You should try it if:

a) You want a strong, dependable anti-perspirant

b) You want to use the same stuff I use just to be like me (who the hell would choose that?)

c) You like smelling fresh in the bed at night while you sleep

d) You sweat like a couple of rats humping in a wool sock.

Go ahead and try some if you want. There’s no pressure at all, but I’m sure you’ll find it effective just like I did. I’m easily impressed, but don’t let that deter you.

Next up on the review list was a selection of eye drops. I received three bottles, two for redness relief and one for dry eye.

I’ve heard of these Rohto eye drops before. Mr. Shepherd received a sample of these at one of his many races, but I’m not sure if he ever actually used them. I was eager to try these, since I have problems with dry eye and redness on a regular basis. Speeding down the road or on a dusty trail on my bike makes my eyes feel like sandpaper sometimes, so I was hoping that these little bottles would help.

The redness relief drops did exactly what they were supposed to do. After a long day of staring at a computer screen, riding my bike, or poking myself in the eyes, a couple of drops in each eye seemed to do the trick. One word of caution though. I wear contact lenses, so I had to wait until I took them out before I used them, since they aren’t specifically made for contacts. That was fine though, since it has now become part of my daily routine to put in a few drops every night before I go to bed. My eyes feel better now when I close them at bedtime, so it’s definitely more comfortable when I sleep.

I started using the “dry eye” drops every morning when I woke up, about 10-15 minutes before I put my contacts in. They are lubricating drops, so they kept my eyes comfortable all day long, even with contacts. I found that my eyes are a little less irritated at the end of the day since I’ve been using the lubricating drops. The only downside? Well, the dry eye drops are “cooling”, and it took me by surprise. The cooling sensation was so strong that I couldn’t keep my eyes open the first time I put them in. After a few days of using them though, I guess I got used to it. The cooling drops actually started to feel nice, and my eyes were happy (they even smiled.)

Thanks for putting up with my pathetic product reviews. I’m just a regular guy that uses regular stuff, so I hope my “product testing” gives you a little benefit. I’m thankful to the folks at Anti Monkey Butt Powder, Rohto, and Certain Dri for sending me their products to review. Hopefully I didn’t embarrass them too much, but they probably expected that after reading this blog and deciding to contact me. I mean, it does say nonsensical crap up there at the top of this page, right?

Nah, they come to me. It's not like I'm applying for sponsors on some website or anything like that. That's just creepy.
